Podium places for Road Runners at Anglesey 10k Trail other race results in North Wales.

Podium places for Road Runners at Anglesey 10k Trail race.

A quartet of North Wales Road Runners competed in the challenging Anglesey 10k Trail race at Newborough last Sunday where two members claimed prestigious podium places.

Amidst a quality entry of experienced club and social runners, Steve Mason led the NWRRC team home in 7th place overall, and he was pleased to finish 2nd in his M40 age cat in 44 minutes and 54 seconds.

Newcomer Tom Aindow enjoyed a steady performance in 11th place in 46.25, with Charlotte Rose Wilton-Jones also on fire, and finishing in 30th place overall, as the 7th female athlete with a great new course PB of 53.10, whilst veteran Rob Fryer continued his recent good form to claim the 3rd spot in his M60 age cat in 59.53.

*The race was won by Steffan Sayer (Menai T&F) in 41.05, with Ben Pease (Wycombe Phoenix Harriers) 2nd in 42.15, with Ifan Jones (Cybi Striders) 3rd in 43.03. The 1st female finisher was Ines Goncalves (Edinburgh University Hare & Hounds) in 46.11.

Other results: *Ruthin: Three NWRRC members journeyed to the Ruthin Memorial Playing Fields parkrun on Saturday and chasing points as part of the club championships, with each member winning their respective age categories. Carla Green was back to her best as the 2nd female athlete and she won her VW50 age cat in 7th place overall in 21.08, with Kay Hatton also on song again with a solid effort in 16th place, and she too finished 1st in her VW60 age cat, and the 4th female finisher in 23.01, whilst master veteran Mike Hayton made it a hat-trick of wins, after he claimed the 1st place in his VM70 age cat with a positive run, finishing 42nd in 28.19.

*Bedford: Ben and Sarah Fergie Hudson went on their travels again last weekend and made their debuts at the Bedford parkrun where Ben finished 32nd in 21.39 and he was 4th in his VM45 age cat, whilst Sarah also ran well to finish in 44th place overall, as the 6th female athlete, and she was 3rd in her VW45 age cat in 22.17.

*Penrhyn Castle: Will Williams (*pictured above), finished 5th at the Penrhyn Castle parkrun on Saturday, and he won his VM50 age cat in 18.29.

*Hoylake: Kevin Higgins (*pictured below) recorded a time of 26.15 at the Wirral 5k at Hoylake last Sunday.
