Road Running trio set the pace at the Abersoch half-marathon... plus other race results.

A trio of NWRRC members took part in the Abersoch half-marathon last Saturday with Stuart Culverhouse coming home first for the club in 28th place overall, out of nearly 300 entrants. And he also celebrated a new course PB and finished two-minutes quicker than last time in 1.33.35 and he was 3rd in his M50 age cat. 

Super-veteran Sandy Johnston confirmed his pedigree with a superb result of 1.42.26 to win his M75 cat with a new PB in 62nd place, whilst Gwen Charlton ran well in 2.20.44, and she was 260th overall, and the 86th female finisher.

After the race Sandy said: “Just ran a huge over-75 PB at the Abersoch half after 10 days of hot and hilly training in Italy, with my daughter Alice, and It might even be a North Wales record, too?


Road Runners competed in the Trail and Canicross races.


Two NWRRC members took part in the Llyn Alwen Trail and Canicross event on Sunday with Charlotte Rose Wilton-Jones, finishing 10th overall, and the 5th female finisher, in the Canicross Race, along with her dog Mollie in a good chip time of 1.00.29. And club newcomer Paul Aubert competed in the 11.5k trail race, and he was 18th out of 76 entrants in 54.24.

Other race results:

*Talwr: Will Williams competed in the Talwr to Llanbedrgoch 5k race in midweek and he finished 11th overall in 19.18, and he was 2nd in his respective age cat. After the race he said: “A decent effort tonight still lots of work to do to get fit again but good workout on a hilly course. Representing Cybi my second claim club this evening as the race was supported by Cybi and they’re great bunch to run with.”

*Ruthin: Mike Hayton won his M70 age cat with a good run at the Ruthin Memorial Playing Fields parkrun after finishing 43rd overall in 28.24.

Will Williams (above), ran well in the midweek 5k race, and (*below), Master veteran Mike Hayton won his VM70 age cat at the Ruthin parkrun.
