Martin Green recorded a new 3,000m PB on the track at Bury as part of the Trafford AC series.

Report by Don Hale.

Martin Green hit the track running in midweek at Bury in North Manchester to record a great new personal best time in his 3,000m race, part of the Trafford AC race series.

He finished in 4th place overall on a quality track with quality rivals in his T-8 event, race 2, with an impressive time of just 9 mins 33.43 seconds, whilst representing Welsh Masters.

Afterwards, Martin said he was pleased with his recent track racing progress and confirmed: “Some pictures from a sunny Bury track for the Trafford track meet. We’ve been lucky with the weather this year which always helps.

“I’m hoping to get to another one somewhere to try and find just over three seconds and go sub 9:30. Nine seconds quicker in three weeks, was all down to the confidence from the way the last one felt, so hopefully the next one can bring the same 9:33 for the second 3,000m of the season, a three-seconds PB. Really enjoyed the track this year. Now to put the extra 2k on to the road at the same pace.”

Also, a very good effort from Will Williams in the 1,500m race at Bury...

Will Williams competed in the 1,500m race at Bury as part of the Trafford AC series and had a real go but gradually ran out of steam on the last lap after leading the race.

Afterwards, he confirmed: “These are some photos from the Trafford AC 1,500m race 5, at Bury. This was only my second ever 1,500m track race, so I can be forgiven for the complete blow up. I led for most of the race then my legs went big time on the last lap.”
